Hadith of Abdur-Rahman ibn Khunbash (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ خَنْبَشٍ (١)، ١٥٤٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْعَنَزِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ خَنْبَشٍ التَّمِيمِيِّ، وَكَانَ كَبِيرًا، أَدْرَكْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ كَادَتْهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ تَحَدَّرَتْ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْأَوْدِيَةِ، وَالشِّعَابِ، وَفِيهِمْ شَيْطَانٌ بِيَدِهِ شُعْلَةُ نَارٍ، يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُحْرِقَ بِهَا وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَهَبَطَ إِلَيْهِ جِبْرِيلُ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ، قَالَ: " مَا أَقُولُ؟ " قَالَ: " قُلْ: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ، وَذَرَأَ وَبَرَأَ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتَنِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ طَارِقٍ إِلَّا طَارِقًا يَطْرُقُ بِخَيْرٍ، يَا رَحْمَنُ "، قَالَ: فَطَفِئَتْ نَارُهُمْ، وَهَزَمَهُمُ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

Abu Tiyah says that I asked Abdur Rahman bin Khunbash, who was extremely elderly, "Did you meet the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" He said, "Yes." I asked, "What incident occurred with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Night of the Jinn?" He replied, "That night, jinn descended from various valleys and ravines to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and among them was a devil who had a flame of fire in his hand, intending to burn the face of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Meanwhile, Jibreel descended from the sky to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, 'O Muhammad, say.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, 'What should I say?' He said, 'Say: I seek refuge in the perfect and complete words of Allah from the evil of all that He has created, brought into existence, and made; from the evil of all that descends from the sky and ascends to it; from the evil of the trials of night and day; and from the evil of every visitor at night except one who comes with goodness. O Most Merciful.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: As soon as these words were recited, their fire was extinguished and Allah defeated them."

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ خَنْبَشٍ: (١) كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ كَادَتْهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ؟ قَالَ: جَاءَتِ الشَّيَاطِينُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْأَوْدِيَةِ، وَتَحَدَّرَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ، وَفِيهِمْ شَيْطَانٌ مَعَهُ شُعْلَةٌ مِنْ (٢) نَارٍ، يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُحْرِقَ بِهَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: فَرُعِبَ (٣) - قَالَ جَعْفَرٌ: أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: جَعَلَ يَتَأَخَّرُ - قَالَ: وَجَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ، قَالَ: " مَا أَقُولُ؟ " قَالَ: " قُلْ: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ، وَلَا فَاجِرٌ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ، وَذَرَأَ وَبَرَأَ (٤) ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا ذَرَأَ فِي الْأَرْضِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتَنِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ طَارِقٍ إِلَّا طَارِقًا يَطْرُقُ بِخَيْرٍ، يَا رَحْمَنُ "، فَطَفِئَتْ نَارُ، ، الشَّيَاطِينِ، وَهَزَمَهُمُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ (١)، ،
