Hadith of Dihyah al-Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ (١)، ١٨٧٩٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ، مِنْ آلِ حُذَيْفَةَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَا أَحْمِلُ لَكَ حِمَارًا عَلَى فَرَسٍ فَتُنْتِجَ لَكَ بَغْلًا فَتَرْكَبُهَا؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Dihyah Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I not do this: let me mount a donkey on a horse (let them mate), so that a mule is produced and you may ride on it?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is done by those people who do not know anything."
