Hadith of Harmalah al-‘Anbari (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ حَرْمَلَةَ الْعَنْبَرِيِّ (١)، ١٨٧٢٠ - حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ ضِرْغَامَةَ بْنِ عُلَيْبَةَ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ الْعَنْبَرِيِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَوْصِنِي. قَالَ: " اتَّقِ اللهَ، وَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِي مَجْلِسِ فَقُمْتُ مِنْهُ فَسَمِعْتَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا يُعْجِبُكَ، فَأْتِهِ، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا تَكْرَهُ، فَاتْرُكْهُ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Harmalah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Advise me." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Fear Allah, and when you attend a gathering and then leave from there, if you hear something good, act upon it, and if you hear mention of something bad, then leave it."
