Hadith of Habib ibn Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ هُبَيْبِ بْنِ مُغْفِلٍ، * ١٨٠٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ هُبَيْبِ بْنِ مُغْفِلٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى مُحَمَّدًا الْقُرَشِيَّ، قَامَ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ هُبَيْبٌ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ وَطِئَهُ خُيَلَاءَ، وَطِئَهُ فِي النَّارِ " (١)،

Habib bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man named Muhammad Quraishi who was dragging his lower garment while walking. Habib (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him and said, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Whoever drags his lower garment on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will drag him in Hellfire in the Hereafter."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَسْلَمُ أَبُو عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ هُبَيْبٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ وَطِئَ عَلَى إِزَارِهِ خُيَلَاءَ، وَطِئَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Habib bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever drags his lower garment on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will make him drag it in Hell in the Hereafter.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَسْلَمَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ هُبَيْبَ بْنَ مُغْفِلٍ صَاحِبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَأَى رَجُلًا يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ خَلْفَهُ، وَيَطَؤُهُ خُيَلَاءَ (٣) ، فَقَالَ: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، سَمِعْتُ، ، رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: " مَنْ وَطِئَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ، وَطِئَهُ فِي النَّارِ " (١)، ،

Habib bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man named Muhammad Quraishi who was dragging his lower garment while walking.
