Hadith of Shurahbil ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ أَوْسٍ (١)، ١٨٠٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، وَعِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي نِمْرَانُ بْنُ مِخْمَرٍ (٢) ، وَقَالَ: عِصَامُ ابْنُ مُحْبِرٍ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، - وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ، فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ، فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ، فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Shurahbil bin Aus (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever drinks alcohol, flog him; if he drinks a second time, flog him; if he drinks a third time, flog him; and if he drinks a fourth time, kill him.
