It is narrated from Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother Zainab bint Humayd took him to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) take his pledge of allegiance." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "He is still a child." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his hand on his head and prayed for him. He used to offer only one goat as sacrifice on behalf of his entire family.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet (ﷺ), and the Prophet (ﷺ) was holding the hand of Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! (ﷺ) I swear by Allah that you are more beloved to me than everything except my own self." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "None of you can be a complete believer until I become more beloved to him than his own self." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "By Allah! Now you are more beloved to me than my own self." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Umar! Now it is complete."
