musnad-ahmad/556 · Musnad Ahmad

Chapter 1

It is narrated from Abu Amir Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that one of his men was killed in the Battle of Autas. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Amir! Did you not feel any sense of honor?" Abu Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: "O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you are guided, no one who goes astray can harm you." Upon this, the Prophet (ﷺ) became angry and said, "Where are you going? The meaning of the verse is: O believers! If you are guided, then misguided disbelievers cannot harm you in any way."

It is narrated from Abu Malik Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet, the Leader of both worlds, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The greatest betrayal in the sight of Allah is betrayal in a span of land. You see that two men are neighbors in a piece of land or a house, yet one of them unjustly takes a span from his companion's share. On the Day of Resurrection, the one who does this will have a collar made from that portion, from all seven earths, placed around his neck.
