Hadith of Mirdas al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ مِرْدَاسٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ (١)، ١٧٧٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مِرْدَاسٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ، وَيَبْقَى كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Mirdas Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: The righteous people will be taken away one by one, and only worthless people will remain behind, like the husks of dates (or barley), whom Allah will not care about.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مِرْدَاسًا الْأَسْلَمِيَّ، قَالَ: " يُقْبَضُ الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ، حَتَّى يَبْقَى (١) كَحُثَالَةِ التَّمْرِ، أَوِ الشَّعِيرِ لَا يُبَالِي اللهُ بِهِمْ شَيْئًا " (٢)،
