Hadith of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Qatadah al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ (١)، ١٧٦٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ اللهَ خَلَقَ آدَمَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ الْخَلْقَ مِنْ ظَهْرِهِ، وَقَالَ: هَؤُلَاءِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَلَا أُبَالِي، وَهَؤُلَاءِ فِي النَّارِ وَلَا أُبَالِي "، قَالَ: فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَعَلَى مَاذَا نَعْمَلُ؟ قَالَ: " عَلَى مَوَاقِعِ الْقَدَرِ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Abdur Rahman bin Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon him), then brought forth his offspring and all creation from his back and said, "These people will go to Paradise and I do not care, and these people will go to Hell and I do not care." Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah! (ﷺ) Then on what basis should we act?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "On the basis of the decreed destinies."
