Hadith of Ka'b ibn Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ كَعْبِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ، ١٧٤٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ لكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ فِتْنَةً، وَإِنَّ فِتْنَةَ أُمَّتِي الْمَالُ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Every nation has had a trial, and the trial of my nation is wealth.

حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الشَّامِيُّ، مِنْ أَهْلِ فِلَسْطِينَ، عَنْ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهَا فُسَيْلَةُ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي، يَقُولُ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَمِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُحِبَّ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ؟ قَالَ: " لَا، وَلَكِنْ مِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ " (١)، ،

Faseelah, a woman, narrates from her father that I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), is it also considered part of 'asabiyyah (tribalism) that a person loves his own people?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "No, 'asabiyyah is that a person helps his people in wrongdoing."
