Hadith of Dhu al-Asabi'

حَدِيثُ ذِي الْأَصَابِعِ، • ١٦٦٣٢ - قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ (١) ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ضَمْرَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ ذِي الْأَصَابِعِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ (٢) : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنْ ابْتُلِينَا بَعْدَكَ بِالْبَقَاءِ أَيْنَ تَأْمُرُنَا؟ قَالَ: " عَلَيْكَ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ، فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَنْشَأَ (٣) لَكَ ذُرِّيَّةٌ يَغْدُونَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ الْمَسْجِدِ وَيَرُوحُونَ " (٤)، ،

It is narrated from Dhi al-Asabi’ that once he submitted in the court of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! If after you we are tested with further life, where do you command us to reside? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Make Bayt al-Maqdis obligatory upon yourselves, for it may be that a generation will be born among you who will come and go to this mosque morning and evening.
