Hadith of a man from Banu Yarbu‘

حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي يَرْبُوعٍ، ١٦٦١٣ - حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي يَرْبُوعٍ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ يَقُولُ: " يَدُ الْمُعْطِي الْعُلْيَا أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ، وَأُخْتَكَ وَأَخَاكَ، ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ فَأَدْنَاكَ "، قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ الَّذِينَ أَصَابُوا فُلَانًا، قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى " (١)، ،

It is narrated from a companion of Banu Yarbu that once I was present in the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and during his conversation with the people, I heard him say: "The hand that gives is upper. Spend on your mother, father, sister, brother, and, step by step, on your close relatives." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! These are the Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu; they have killed such-and-such a man." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "No person will be held responsible for the crime of another."
