Hadith of Al-Harith ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو (١)، ١٥٩٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ زُرَارَةَ السَّهْمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، فَقُلْتُ: بِأَبِي أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي، قَالَ: " غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكُمْ (٢) " قَالَ: وَهُوَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ الْعَضْبَاءِ، قَالَ: فَاسْتَدَرْتُ لَهُ مِنَ الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ، أَرْجُو أَنْ يَخُصَّنِي دُونَ الْقَوْمِ، فَقُلْتُ: اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي قَالَ: " غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكُمْ " قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الْفَرَائِعُ وَالْعَتَائِرُ، قَالَ: " مَنْ شَاءَ فَرَّعَ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يُفَرِّعْ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ عَتَرَ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَعْتِرْ فِي الْغَنَمِ أُضْحِيَّةٌ " ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا، فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا " (٣)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ، وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً: حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ زُرَارَةَ السَّهْمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْحَارِثِ، ،

It is narrated from Harith bin Amr that during the Farewell Pilgrimage, I met the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! May my father be sacrificed for you, please pray for my forgiveness. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: May Allah forgive all of you. At that time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was riding a she-camel named Adhba. I went around to the other side hoping that perhaps the Prophet (peace be upon him) would pray specifically for me, and again I requested: Please pray for my forgiveness. The Prophet (peace be upon him) again said: May Allah forgive all of you. Meanwhile, a man asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling on slaughtering the first offspring of an animal or offering a sacrifice in the month of Rajab? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever wishes to slaughter the first offspring of an animal may do so, and whoever does not wish to, may refrain. Similarly, whoever wishes to offer a sacrifice in the month of Rajab may do so, and whoever does not wish to, may refrain. However, sacrifice can also be done with a goat. Then he said: Remember, your lives and wealth are as sacred to each other as the sanctity of this day in this city.
