Hadith of Qutham ibn Tamam or Tamam ibn Qutham from his father (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ قُثَمِ بْنِ تَمَّامٍ أَوْ تَمَّامِ بْنِ قُثَمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ١٥٦٥٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الصَّيْقَلِ، عَنْ قُثَمِ بْنِ تَمَّامٍ أَوْ تَمَّامِ بْنِ قُثَمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: أَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " " مَا بَالُكُمْ تَأْتُونِي قُلْحًا لَا تَسَوَّكُونَ، لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ، كَمَا فَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْوُضُوءَ " " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Qutham or Tamam that once we were present in the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: What is the matter, why do I see your teeth yellow and discolored? Do you not use the miswak? If it were not difficult for my ummah, I would have made the use of miswak obligatory for them just as wudu is obligatory.
