Hadith of Judamah bint Wahb (may Allah be pleased with her)

حَدِيثُ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ (١)، ٢٧٠٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتَ وَهْبٍ، حَدَّثَتْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغِيلَةِ، حَتَّى ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومَ يَصْنَعُونَهُ، فَلَا يَضُرُّ أَوْلَادَهُمْ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Judamah bint Wahb (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I was about to prohibit men from approaching their wives during the period of breastfeeding, but then I was informed that the people of Persia and Rome do so, and their children are not harmed by it (therefore, I abandoned this intention)."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ الْأَسَدِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغِيلَةِ، حَتَّى ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومَ يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ، فَلَا يَضُرُّ أَوْلَادَهُمْ " (١)،

It is narrated from Judamah bint Wahb (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I was about to prohibit men from approaching their wives during the period of breastfeeding, but then I was informed that the people of Persia and Rome do so and it does not harm their children in any way (therefore, I abandoned this intention)."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي، ، الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ الْأَسَدِيَّةِ، وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسُئِلَ عَنِ الْعَزْلِ، فَقَالَ: " هُوَ الْوَأْدُ الْخَفِيُّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Judamah bint Wahb (may Allah be pleased with her), "who was among the first women to migrate," that a person asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about 'azl (withdrawing the fluid of life outside), so I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: "This is secretly burying alive."

حَدَّثَنَا أبُو عَبدِ الْرَحَمَنِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ، فَذَكَرَهُ (٢)، ،

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
