Addition in the hadith of Abu Lubabah ibn 'Abd Al-Mundhir Al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him)

زِيَادَةٌ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ الْبَدْرِيِّ (١)، ١٥٥٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا لُبَابَةَ، يُخْبِرُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ الْحَيَّاتِ (٢) " (٣)، ،

Abu Lubabah once told Ibn Umar that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade killing snakes.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ نَافِعًا، قَالَ: كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَأْمُرُ بِقَتْلِ الْحَيَّاتِ كُلِّهِنَّ، لَا يَدَعُ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا حَتَّى حَدَّثَهُ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ الْبَدْرِيُّ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ جِنَّانِ (١) الْبُيُوتِ " (٢)،

Nafi' says that Ibn Umar used to order the killing of all kinds of snakes and would not spare any, until Abu Lubabah narrated this hadith that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade killing the snakes that live in houses.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ الْبَدْرِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " سَيِّدُ الْأَيَّامِ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَأَعْظَمُهَا عِنْدَهُ، وَأَعْظَمُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ، وَيَوْمِ الْأَضْحَى، وَفِيهِ خَمْسُ خِلَالٍ: خَلَقَ اللهُ فِيهِ آدَمَ،، ، وَأَهْبَطَ اللهُ فِيهِ آدَمَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، وَفِيهِ تَوَفَّى اللهُ آدَمَ، (١) وَفِيهِ سَاعَةٌ لَا يَسْأَلُ الْعَبْدُ فِيهَا شَيْئًا، إِلَّا آتَاهُ اللهُ إِيَّاهُ مَا لَمْ يَسْأَلْ حَرَامًا، وَفِيهِ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ مَا مِنْ مَلَكٍ مُقَرَّبٍ، وَلَا سَمَاءٍ، وَلَا أَرْضٍ، وَلَا رِيَاحٍ، وَلَا جِبَالٍ، وَلَا بَحْرٍ، إِلَّا هُنَّ يُشْفِقْنَ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Abu Lubabah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: The chief of all days, the most honored in the sight of Allah, even more honored than the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, is the day of Friday. It has five special characteristics: On this day Allah created Adam, on this day He sent him to the earth as His vicegerent, on this day he passed away, on this day there is a moment in which whatever supplication a servant makes, Allah surely grants it, as long as he does not pray for something unlawful, and on this day the Day of Judgment will be established. There is no close angel in the heavens and the earth, nor the winds, nor the mountains, nor the seas, except that they fear the day of Friday.
