Hadith of Mu'awiyah Al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ مُعَاوِيَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ (١)، ١٥٥٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ يَعْنِي الْقَطَّانَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَكُونُ النَّاسُ مُجْدِبِينَ فَيُنْزِلُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ رِزْقًا مِنْ رِزْقِهِ، فَيُصْبِحُونَ مُشْرِكِينَ "، ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: وَكَيْفَ ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " يَقُولُونَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Muawiyah Laithi that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: People are afflicted with famine, then Allah sends down His provision upon them, but the very next day people associate others with Him in it. Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah! How is that?" He replied: People say, "We received rain because of such-and-such star."
