Hadith of a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)

حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ٢٣٤٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْعَدَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَعَلَّكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ وَالْإِمَامُ يَقْرَأُ "، قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا، قَالُوا: إِنَّا لَنَفْعَلُ ذَاكَ، قَالَ: " فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِلَّا أَنْ يَقْرَأَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) once said, "Perhaps you recite (Qur'an) during the recitation of the Imam?" He repeated this question two or three times, so the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, we do so." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not do so, except that one of you wishes to recite Surah Al-Fatihah."
