Hadith of Khalid ibn Urfutah (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ (١)، ٢٢٤٩٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا خَالِدُ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ بَعْدِي أَحْدَاثٌ وَفِتَنٌ وَاخْتِلَافٌ، فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ عَبْدَ اللهِ الْمَقْتُولَ لَا الْقَاتِلَ فَافْعَلْ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Khalid bin Urfatah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: O Khalid! After me, incidents, tribulations, and differences will arise. If you have the strength within you to become one of Allah's servants who is killed and not the killer, then do so.

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ:، ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ يَسَارٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ صُرَدٍ وَخَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ قَالَ: فَذَكَرُوا رَجُلًا مَاتَ مِنْ بَطْنِهِ قَالَ: فَكَأَنَّمَا (١) اشْتَهَيَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ: فَقَالَ: أَحَدُهُمَا لِلْآخَرِ: أَلَمْ يَقُلِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ، فَإِنَّهُ لَنْ يُعَذَّبَ فِي قَبْرِهِ "؟ قَالَ الْآخَرُ: بَلَى (٢)،

Abdullah bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was sitting with Sulaiman bin Surad (may Allah be pleased with him) and Khalid bin Urfatah (may Allah be pleased with him). Both of them intended to attend the funeral of a man who had died from a stomach illness. During this, one said to the other, "Did the Prophet (ﷺ) not say that whoever dies from a stomach illness will not be punished in the grave?" The other replied, "Why not (of course he did)."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ قَالَ: عَبْدُ اللهِ وَسَمِعْتُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ مَوْلَى خَالِدِ بْنِ عُرْفُطَةَ: أَنَّ خَالِدَ بْنَ عُرْفُطَةَ قَالَ لِلْمُخْتَارِ: هَذَا رَجُلٌ كَذَّابٌ، وَلَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ " (٣)، ،

Khalid bin Urfatah (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding Mukhtar Thaqafi: "He is a liar, and I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to me, then he should make his abode in the Fire of Hell."
