حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرَاهِيجَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: " مَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا الْأَسْوَدَانِ: التَّمْرُ، وَالْمَاءُ " (٣)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), we had nothing to eat except two black things: dates and water.
