حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْعَلَاءَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَقُولَنَّ: اللهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ، وَلَكِنْ لِيُعْظِمْ رَغْبَتَهُ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يَتَعَاظَمُ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ أَعْطَاهُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated with the previous chain that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you makes supplication, he should not say, "O Allah, if You will, forgive me," but rather he should supplicate with determination and certainty, for there is no one who can compel Allah.
