حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ عَلَيْكُمْ، الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ اللُّقْمَةُ، وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ " (٣)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: The needy is not the one who can be turned away with one or two dates or one or two morsels; the real needy is the one who refrains from asking.
