حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ (١) : وَسَمِعْتُ أَبِي، يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، " قُلْتُ (٢) لِيَحْيَى: كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ "، قَالَ: " شُعْبَتَانِ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يَتْرُكُهُمَا النَّاسُ أَبَدًا: النِّيَاحَةُ، وَالطَّعْنُ فِي النَّسَبِ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: There are two practices from the time of ignorance which people will never abandon: one is wailing (over the dead) and the other is casting aspersions on someone's lineage.
