حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أُصَلِّي مع رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ (٢) الظُّهْرِ، سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَقَصُرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَمْ تَقْصُرْ الصلاة، وَلَمْ أَنْسَهْ "، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّمَا صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَحَقٌّ مَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟ "، قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَقَامَ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ آخِرَيَيْنِ، قَالَ يَحْيَى: حَدَّثَنِي ضَمْضَمُ بْنُ جَوْسٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ: ثُمَّ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
Haddathana Hasan ibn Musa, Haddathana Shayban ibn Abd al-Rahman, Haddathana Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abi Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: While I was praying with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, the noon prayer, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave salam after two rak‘ahs. Then a man from Banu Sulaym stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or did you forget? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The prayer has not been shortened, nor did I forget." He said: O Messenger of Allah, you only prayed two rak‘ahs. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Is what Dhu al-Yadayn says true?" They said: Yes. He stood up and prayed two more rak‘ahs with them. Yahya said: Dhamdham ibn Jaws narrated to me that he heard Abu Hurayrah say: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed two prostrations.
