حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْغَيْثِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِذْ نَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَلَمَّا قَرَأَ: {وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ} [الجمعة: ٣] ، قَالَ رَجُلٌ: مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَلَمْ يُرَاجِعْهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى سَأَلَهُ مَرَّةً، أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ، أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، وَفِينَا سَلْمَانُ الْفَارِسِيُّ، قَالَ: فَوَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ عَلَى سَلْمَانَ، وَقَالَ: " لَوْ كَانَ الْإِيمَانُ عِنْدَ الثُّرَيَّا، لَنَالَهُ رِجَالٌ مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were present in the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) when Surah Jumu’ah was revealed to him. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) recited: "wa akhareena minhum lamma yalhaqu bihim" (and others among them who have not yet joined them), someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who will these people be?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) did not answer him, until the questioner repeated the question two or three times. At that time, Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) was also among us. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) placed his hand on Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "If faith were near the Pleiades, some men from his people would attain it from there."
