حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا الطِّيَرَةُ؟ قَالَ: " لَا طَائِرَ "، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتِ، وَقَالَ: " خَيْرُ الْفَأْلِ الْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from the previous chain that a person asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by bad omen?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "There is no reality in bad omen, but the best omen is a good word."
