حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ، قَالَ: قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: " إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from fasting continuously for several days with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor)." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but you fast continuously in this manner?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "In this matter, I am not like you. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord Himself feeds me and gives me drink."
