حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَقَالَ: وَكَانَ نَازِلًا عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، قَالَ: " فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةً لَيْسَتْ بِالْخَفِيفَةِ وَلَا بِالطَّوِيلَةِ "، قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ: نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلَاةِ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَهَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ: وَمَا أَنْكَرْتَ مِنْ صَلَاتِي؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: خَيْرًا، أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَأَوْجَزَ (٢) (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Khalid, may Allah have mercy on him, who was once a guest of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, in Madinah Munawwarah, says that once I saw Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, performing a prayer which was neither very short nor very long. I asked him, "Did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also use to pray in this manner (as you are teaching us)?" Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, replied, "What do you find unusual or strange in my prayer?" I said, "I just wanted to ask you about it." He said, "Yes, rather (the Prophet's prayer) was even shorter than this."
