حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْجُلَاسِ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ سَيَّارٍ (٢) ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ شَمَّاخٍ، قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ مَرْوَانَ سَأَلَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: " اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبُّهَا، وَأَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهَا، وَأَنْتَ هَدَيْتَهَا لِلْإِسْلَامِ، وَأَنْتَ قَبَضْتَ رُوحَهَا، وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِسِرِّهَا، وَعَلَانِيَتِهَا، جِئْنَا شُفَعَاءَ فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Usman bin Shamakh reports that once Marwan asked Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in my presence, "Which supplication did you hear the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recite in the funeral prayer?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: O Allah, You are his Lord, You created him, You guided him to Islam, and You took his soul. You know his hidden and apparent (deeds). We have come to You as intercessors for him, so forgive him."
