حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّا نَكُونُ بِهَذَا الرَّمْلِ فَلَا نَجِدُ الْمَاءَ، وَيَكُونُ فِينَا الْحَائِضُ، وَالْجُنُبُ، وَالنُّفَسَاءُ، فَيَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ لَا تَجِدُ الْمَاءَ، قَالَ: " عَلَيْكَ، ، بِالتُّرَابِ " يَعْنِي التَّيَمُّمَ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin man came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I stay continuously in desert areas for four or five months. Among us are women in menstruation and postnatal bleeding, and men in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), (but) we do not find water. What is your opinion?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Make the earth obligatory upon yourselves (i.e., perform tayammum)."
