Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ (٢) ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَأَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ أَحَدِكُمْ قَيْحًا، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: It is much better for a man's stomach to be filled with pus until he is satisfied than for it to be filled with poetry.
