حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ عِفْرِيتًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ تَفَلَّتَ عَلَيَّ الْبَارِحَةَ لِيَقْطَعَ عَلَيَّ الصَّلَاةَ، فَأَمْكَنَنِي اللهُ مِنْهُ فَدَعَتُّهُ، وَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَرْبِطَهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ، حَتَّى تُصْبِحُوا فَتَنْظُرُوا إِلَيْهِ كُلُّكُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ، قَالَ: فَذَكَرْتُ دَعْوَةَ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانَ: رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي (١) . قَالَ: فَرَدَّهُ خَاسِئًا " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Tonight a rebellious jinn tried to overpower me so that he could disrupt my prayer. Allah gave me control over him and I caught him. I intended to tie him to one of the pillars of the mosque so that you all could see him in the morning. But then I remembered the supplication of my brother Sulaiman (peace be upon him): 'My Lord, grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me.' The narrator says that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) then drove him away in disgrace."
