حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ: أَكْثَرَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، وَاللهِ لَوْلَا آيَتَانِ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ، مَا حَدَّثْتُ حَدِيثًا، ثُمَّ يَتْلُو هَاتَيْنِ الْآيَتَيْنِ: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى} [البقرة: ١٥٩] ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، (١)،
Translation
English translation
A‘raj, may Allah have mercy on him, says that Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say: People say that Abu Hurairah narrates many ahadith. If it were not for two verses in the Book of Allah, I would never narrate even a single hadith. Then he would recite those two verses: "Indeed, those who conceal the clear proofs and guidance We have revealed..."
