. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

Abdur Rahman A'raj, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I heard Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, saying: "You people think that Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates many hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. (Allah has promised to gather everyone before Him; I was just a poor man) and in order to get enough food to fill my stomach, I used to stay close to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. (I would get enough food there to fill my stomach, and then I would spend the whole day in the presence of the Prophet.) While the Muhajirun were busy trading in the markets and bazaars, and the Ansari companions were occupied with looking after their wealth and gardens. Once, I was present in the gathering of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: 'Who is there who will spread his cloak (for me to sit on) until my speech is finished, and then wrap it around himself? Then he will never forget any word he hears from me.' So I spread the cloak that I was wearing. When the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, finished his speech, I wrapped it around myself. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, after that day, I never forgot anything I heard from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him."
