حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنِ ابْنِ (١) إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخَيْرِكُمْ؟ "، قَالُوا: نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ. قَالَ: " خِيَارُكُمْ أَطْوَلُكُمْ أَعْمَارًا، وَأَحْسَنُكُمْ أَعْمَالًا " (٢)، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ (٣) : " سَأَلْتُ أَبِي عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،، ، وَسُهيْلٍ (١) ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا ذَكَرَ الْعَلَاءَ إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ، وَقَدَّمَ أَبَا صَالِحٍ عَلَى الْعَلَاءِ "،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Shall I not tell you who among you is the best?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The best among you are those whose lives are long and whose deeds are the best."
