حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ،، ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ "، قَالَهَا: ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ، قَالُوا: فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِثْلِي، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي، فَاكْلَفُوا مِنَ الْأَعْمَالِ (١) مَا تُطِيقُونَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Protect yourselves from fasting continuously with only one pre-dawn meal. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said this three times. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! You fast continuously in this manner. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: In this matter, you are not like me. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord Himself feeds and gives me drink. Therefore, you should only take on as much practice as you have the strength to bear.
