Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ إِيَادِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ السَّدُوسِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا رِمْثَةَ التَّيْمِيَّ، قَالَ: جِئْتُ مَعَ أَبِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " ابْنُكَ هَذَا؟ " قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " أَتُحِبُّهُ؟ " قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَا يَجْنِي عَلَيْكَ، وَلَا تَجْنِي عَلَيْهِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I went with my father to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Is this your son?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Do you love him?" He said, "Yes!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "He is not responsible for any of your crimes, and you are not responsible for any of his crimes."
