Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجَوَّابِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ رُزَيْقٍ (١) ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو فَقُلْتُ: حَدِّثْنِي مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: وَلَا تُحَدِّثْنِي عَنِ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " الْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ، وَالْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا نَهَى الله عَنْهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Sa‘d says that a man came to Ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I ask you about that hadith which you yourself heard from the Prophet (ﷺ); I do not ask about what is in the Torah." He replied: "I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: The true Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe. And the true emigrant is the one who refrains from what Allah has forbidden."
