حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُوحٍ يَعْنِي قُرَادًا، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ قَالَ: خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنِ الْوَتْرِ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نُوتِرَ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ، ثَوِّبْ يَا ابْنَ النَّبَّاحِ (١) ، أَوْ أَذِّنْ، أَوْ أَقِمْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that a man from Banu Asad said:
`Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) came out to us and they asked him about Witr. He said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to pray witr at this time. O Ibn An-Nabbah, give the adhan - or, say the iqamah.
