English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The most beloved way of fasting to Allah is the way of Dawud (peace be upon him), and likewise, his prayer is the most beloved to Allah. He would sleep for half the night, stand (in prayer) for a third of the night, and then rest for a sixth of the night. Similarly, he would fast one day and leave fasting the next day."
