حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا، فِي بَيْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، يُحَدِّثُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ: أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ سَمَّعَ النَّاسَ بِعَمَلِهِ، سَمَّعَ اللهُ بِهِ سَامِعَ خَلْقِهِ، وَصَغَّرَهُ وَحَقَّرَهُ "، قَالَ: فَذَرَفَتْ عَيْنَا عَبْدِ اللهِ (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever seeks fame among people through his deeds, Allah hands him over to them and humiliates and disgraces him. Upon saying this, tears began to flow from the eyes of Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him).
