حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى، مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً (٣) ، إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ " (٤)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The night prayer consists of two rak'ahs at a time, and when you fear that dawn is approaching, then add one rak'ah to these two, for indeed Allah is Odd and He loves the odd number."
