حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلَاءَ لَمْ يَنْظُرِ، ، اللهُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: إِنَّ أَحَدَ شِقَّيْ إِزَارِي يَسْتَرْخِي إِلَّا أَنْ أَتَعَاهَدَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّكَ لَسْتَ مِمَّنْ يَصْنَعُهُ خُيَلَاءَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoever drags his clothes on the ground out of arrogance, Allah Almighty will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: Sometimes one corner of my garment hangs down, although I try hard (to keep it up)? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: You are not among those who do this out of arrogance.
