حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، كِلَاهُمَا حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: وَلَقَدْ كُنْتُ مَعَهُمَا فِي الْمَجْلِسِ، وَلَكِنِّي كُنْتُ صَغِيرًا، فَلَمْ أَحْفَظِ الْحَدِيثَ، قَالَا: سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنِ الْوِتْرُ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَقَالَ: " إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ أَنْ تُجْعَلَ آخِرَ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ الْوَتْرُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Muhammad bin Ibrahim says that Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman and Sulaiman bin Yasar both narrated to him this hadith of Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). Although I was also present with them in that gathering, I was a small child, so I could not remember it. That a man asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) about the Witr prayer? And he narrated the complete hadith. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) commanded that the last prayer of the night should be made Witr.
