حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once a man asked the Prophet (ﷺ), "O Messenger of Allah! How should the night prayer be performed?" He replied: "You should pray in sets of two rak'ahs, and when you fear that morning is near, then add one rak'ah as witr to those two."
