حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ " فَقِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّكَ، ، تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ. قَالَ: " إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade people from observing continuous fasting with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor) during the month of Ramadan. So they said, "You are forbidding us from observing continuous fasting for several days, but you yourself do it?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "I am not like you; I am given food and drink by Allah."
