حَدَّثَنَا (٢) يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ (٣) : كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ الْمُسَافِرِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ فَقَالَ: إِمَّا أَنْتُمْ تَتَّبِعُونَ (٤) سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ، وَإِمَّا أَنْتُمْ لَا تَتَّبِعُونَ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ (٥) لَمْ أُخْبِرْكُمْ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا: فَخَيْرُ السُّنَنِ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَقَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَرَجَ، ، مِنْ هَذِهِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى رَكْعَتَيْنِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Bishr bin Harb says that I asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that O Abu Abdur Rahman! How is the prayer of a traveler? He replied: If you act upon the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), I will tell you; if not, then I will not tell you. We said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! The best way is indeed the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would leave this city, he would not pray more than two rak'ahs until he returned.
