Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعٌ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ: " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَخْطُبَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ، حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا الَّذِي خَطَبَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَوْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: No one should send a marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother until the first proposer leaves it or gives him permission.
