حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو عَلَى رِجَالٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يُسَمِّيهِمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ (٢) : {لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ} [آل عمران: ١٢٨] " فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate against some individuals among the polytheists by name. Then this verse was revealed: "You have no authority in this matter, whether Allah turns to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers." Thereupon, the Prophet (ﷺ) stopped supplicating against them.
