حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالشَّمْسُ عَلَى قُعَيْقِعَانَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، فَقَالَ: " مَا أَعْمَارُكُمْ فِي أَعْمَارِ مَنْ مَضَى، إِلَّا كَمَا بَقِيَ مِنَ النَّهَارِ فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْهُ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once we were sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ), after the Asr prayer, and the sun was still over Mount Qaiqan. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "In comparison to the lifespans of the previous nations, your lifespans are like this remaining part of the day, which is very little compared to the part that has already passed."
